Riley Co., Kan. — Riley County is grieving the loss of longtime community leader Greg McHenry.
McHenry suffered with a prolonged illness in recent years and passed away Thursday evening.
Greg worked for Riley County since 1988 and served as the County Appraiser since 2006. He was a trusted mentor and friend and was sought after as an advisor locally and nationally. Greg served terms as Vice President and President for the International Association of Assessing Officers (IAAO). He also served as an Appraiser for Clay County in a dual role while working for Riley County.
“Greg was a consummate professional and served with unparalleled integrity. He always had the best interest of our community at heart,” said Rich Vargo, County Clerk. “Greg had a passion for his profession and a dramatic impact on the appraisal industry in the State of Kansas and the nation, serving at the highest levels attainable. He was a good friend and leader, and we will miss him.”
McHenry is survived by his wife, children, and grandchildren.
Funeral details will be arranged by Yorgensen-Meloan-Londeen Funeral Home of Manhattan. A service announcement will be made by the family in the coming days.
