By Payton Tholstrup

According to the US National Weather Service, preliminary data showed that on August 19th, Manhattan, Kansas had the highest temperature across the contiguous United States at 115 degrees.

Most of Kansas, including counties such as Clay, Riley, Washington, Cloud, and more, are in an excessive heat warning until Thursday, August 24th, at 10:00 p.m. Humidity is also high today and tomorrow.

Make sure to take precautions with these dangerous temperatures. Stay inside if possible. If you absolutely must be outside, make sure to take breaks, stay hydrated, and monitor yourself for signs of heat related illness.

Never leave pets or children alone inside a hot car. Keep your car locked to prevent children from going in it alone.
