Obituary-Bolivia M. Thompson

Bolivia M. Thompson, 77 years of age, of Concordia passed away Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at Marquis Place in Concordia, Kansas. She was born on March 6, 1947, in Greenville, South Carolina to Theodore J. and Willa M. (Spearman) Lewis.

Bolivia was a 1966 graduate of Concordia High School.  Bolivia then went on to receive her LPN Degree from the Kaw Valley Vo-Tech in 1968.  She was part of the first graduating class.

She married Bill Thompson and they later divorced.

She was a past member of the First United Methodist Church, NAGE (Union) where she held the position of secretary for nine years.  She was also a member of the Red Hat Society.

Bolivia worked as an LPN for the Colmery-O’Neil VA Medical Center in Topeka, Kansas for 31 years and retired in 2002.   While at the VA Hospital Bolivia worked in three different departments, Nursing, Pharmacy and Quality Assurance.

She enjoyed bowling where she was a member of two different bowling leagues, watching game shows and doing crossword puzzles.  Most of all she loved spending time with her beloved family and friends.

Bolivia is survived by her caregivers, Pam and Bob Huber, Brandi and Mike Hake, Drake and Chelsea Hake and their children Conley (CK) and Wesley, Eastan Hake and Stryker Hake, many cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Theodore and Willa Mae Lewis, her son, Kevin R. Thompson, and an infant sister.

A visitation will be held on Monday, May 6, 2024, from 1-8 p.m. at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, in Concordia.

A Celebration of Life graveside service will be held 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, May 7, 2024, at the Topeka Cemetery, Topeka, Kansas.
