Gloria G. Hiltgen, 94, Greenleaf, died Monday, January 15, 2024 at the Clay County Medical Center, Clay Center, KS.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., Saturday, February 17, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Greenleaf, KS with the funeral Mass following at 10:30. Father David Metz will officiate.
Burial will be in St. Michael’s Catholic Cemetery, Kimeo, KS.
Gloria was born on December 28, 1929 at home at Kimeo, KS to Earl and Margaret (Mullen) Depew. On August 5, 1947, she was united in marriage to Robert L. Hiltgen at St. Michael’s Catholic Church in Kimeo. They were blessed with three sons, Robert J., Lawrence and Steven.
Gloria and Bob ran a restaurant in Greenleaf for many years and farmed. She was a great cook and baker. Gloria would make special birthday cakes for her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She enjoyed working crossword puzzles, gardening and flowers. She especially liked spending time with the grandchildren and great grandchildren, family gatherings and being with friends.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband, Bob in 2017; son, Larry Hiltgen; daughter-in-law, Wanda Hiltgen; siblings, Larry Depew, Kenneth Depew, Theresa Clark and Carol Long; and grandchildren, Kara Hiltgen, Justin Hiltgen and James Finlayson.
Survivors include sons, Robert J. (Ruth) Hiltgen, Steven (Carol) Hiltgen, both of Greenleaf; sister, Patricia Rhodes, Independence, MO; five grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and eight great-great grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established and will be designated later. Contributions may be sent in care of Ward Funeral Home, Washington, Kansas.
