Obituary-Jim Dunbar

James (Jim) Porter Dunbar was born on January 29th, 1951 in Roseville IL. to Grover and Mary Jean Dunbar. He is survived in death by his sisters Sally James, Marilyn Griffith, and his brothers Edward (Buddy) Dunbar and Patrick Dunbar as well as his sons Jamesson Dunbar and wife Kristi, David Dunbar and wife Toni, Tony Mallean and wife Laura as well as his 7 grandchildren Abby, Weston, Skylar, Taylor, Samantha, Justice and Mckenna. He is preceded in death by his brother Lindell and his wife Saundra (Rae) Dunbar.

Jim enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting, riding his motorcycle, and going to the casino. He also enjoyed spending time with friends and family doing various different things outside when the weather was nice.

Jim touched the lives of many different people in the community through his work as a zookeeper, animal control officer, reserve Sheriffs officer or most notably through his tree business.

Self admittedly, Jim was not the easiest man to get along with but had many friends and family who cared for him deeply. His circle of friends was small but if he called you his friend, there was nothing he wouldn’t do if asked.

Funeral services for Jim will be held at 2:00 PM on Tuesday, April 9, 2024, at the Neill-Schwensen-Rook Funeral Home in Clay Center.

Visitation will take place from 1:00 PM until the time of service on Tuesday.

Memorial contributions can be made to the Jim Dunbar Memorial Fund left in care of the funeral home.
