Keith U. Kauer of Concordia, KS, formerly of North Kansas City, MO passed away on September 1, 2022 at the age of 86. Keith was born on May 16, 1936 to Cline E. And Gertrude E. (Magnusson) Kauer on a farmstead north of Courtland, KS. He was the youngest of four siblings and was preceded in death by sister, Yvonne and brothers Darrell and Robert Kauer. After attending several schools in the Wichita, KS area, he graduated from Formoso, KS High School in May of 1953.
Keith’s work years were spent at Boeing in Wichita, United States Air Force in Alaska, Pan American Airways in Alaska and San Francisco. He entered Kansas State College in Pittsburg and received his BS in the summer of 1969. He was then hired by the Metroplitan Community Colleges (MCC) in Kansas City, MO and continued his professional career until retiring in 1995. During this period, he started and taught Aviation Maintenance Technology at the Maple Woods Campus, served as liaison between MCC, architects, and construction teams during completion of permanent facilities at Maple Woods and Longview, supervised the evening and weekend college, security and the physical plant at the Blue Springs Campus. He earned his MS and Ed.D degrees from the University of Missouri in Columbia. He was past president of the MCC Chapter of the American Association of University Professors and the Blue Springs Evening Rotary Club. Keith was also a member of the North Kansas City Breakfast Club.
Keith is survived by daughters Loretta Curran of Kansas City, MO and Juliana Kauer of Concordia, KS. Grandchildren Kyle (Bridget) Sharp, Brett Sharp, Michelle (Justin) Kieslich, Meghan (Rich) Adams and William (Callie) Curran. Great grandchildren Bailey, Kailyn and Brynley Sharp, Jackson Sharp, Vera and Julian Kieslich, Mila Adams and Kaiden Cassidy, Devlin and Killian Curran.
Cremation is being arranged by Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home in Concordia, KS with a celebration of life to be planned at a later date.
