Obituary-Rosalita M. Skeels

Rosalita M. (Rottinghaus) Skeels, age 85, longtime Concordia resident, entered into rest on Sunday, November 27, 2022 at her home in Concordia.  She was born in St. Benedict on January 5, 1937 to Alvin and Rose (Haverkamp) Rottinghaus.

Rosie graduated from Marymount School of Nursing in Salina, KS in 1958.

On May 4, 1959 she married Kenneth D. Skeels at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in St. Benedict, Kansas.  To this union 4 children were born, DeAnn, David, Douglas, and Dana.

She was a member of the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church.  Rosie had a deep passion of caring for others.  She worked in nursing until the age of 75.

Rosie enjoyed sewing, gardening, cooking, baking and most of all spending time with her family especially her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren, whom she was always excited to see.

She is survived by her husband Kenny Skeels, Concordia, KS; daughter, DeAnn Romberger (Richard), Abilene, KS; son, David Skeels (Nikki), Shawnee, KS; son, Douglas Skeels, Concordia, KS; Dana Santos (Marcus), Littleton, CO; 17 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Elmer Rottinghaus (Nancy) and Regis Rottinghaus, two sisters, MaryAnn Dressman and Millie Heinen.

Rosie was preceded in death by her parents, Alvin and Rose, brothers, Wilbert, Leonard, Albert, Justin and Galen Rottinghaus, sister, Dorothy Fangman.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m., Thursday, December 1, 2022 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.  A Rosary Service will be prayed 6:00 p.m., on Thursday evening at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.  Family will greet friends after the Rosary.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, December 2, 2022 at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church with Fr. David Metz officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Concordia Catholic Cemetery, Concordia, Kansas.
