Public Information Officer to Provide Briefings During Fake Patty’s Day

To ensure transparency between the Riley County Police Department (RCPD) and the community, please allow the following to provide our plan for release of information to the public on Fake Patty’s Day, March 2, 2024:

The Public Information Officer (PIO) will provide social media briefings on Facebook and X (formerly Twitter) on or about 11:00 AM, and 4:00 PM. Citizens and media outlets are encouraged to follow our social media channels for these updates. Further, our social media channels will feature any major happenings, if any, as they transpire.

The Daily News posted on Monday, March 4, 2024, will include reportable incidents that occurred over the weekend, so long as the incidents have been closed. Any final numbers will be provided to the media and community in a timely manner.

It is important to note the RCPD will not be closing any streets for the event, allowing vehicle traffic to traverse Aggieville. However, due to the high volume of foot traffic expected, we strongly discourage driving in the area.

RCPD will be actively monitoring the event with a significant presence in an effort to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life for participants and Manhattan residents who choose not to participate.
