Royals Set Rotation After Injury Updates

By Jayson Henderson

Springdale, Ark., March 25, 2024 – Kansas City Royals manager Matt Quatraro confirmed the team’s starting rotation for the upcoming season opener against the Twins, following updates on several player injuries. Michael Wacha, who sustained a right middle finger injury from a line drive during Sunday’s intrasquad game, received positive news as X-rays returned negative. Quatraro announced Cole Ragans as the opener against the Twins, with Seth Lugo and Brady Singer to follow. Wacha’s injury allows him to start later against the Orioles. Meanwhile, second baseman Michael Massey is expected to start the season on the injured list due to lower back tightness, with Nick Loftin and Dairon Blanco filling roster spots. Other players, including Josh Taylor, Carlos Hernández, and Jake Brentz, are also recovering from injuries. These updates shape the Royals’ strategy as they prepare for the upcoming season.
