City of Manhattan Announces End of E-Scooter Era

By Jayson Henderson

In a Facebook post, the City of Manhattan declared the discontinuation of Link/Superpedestrian e-scooters starting December 31. The announcement follows Superpedestrian’s decision to cease U.S. operations in the new year. Since August 2020, these electric scooters have taken 412,408 trips across Manhattan and Kansas State University campus. The city invites residents to share their e-scooter experiences in the comments. A commendation is extended to Evan Lochmiller and his ops teams for managing over 450 scooters for three years. Looking forward, the city expresses interest in exploring opportunities with Kansas State in 2024 for a similar alternative transportation initiative. E-scooters have been a valued mode of transport in the community.
