The Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT) is beginning its second round of Planning and Programming (P&P) grants and is now open to receive application submissions for the Safe Routes to School Program (SRTS) application.
KDOT is set to allocate five grants for the 2024-2025 school year. Submissions are due on May 3, by 5 p.m.
The P&P grants are designed to finance the creation of SRTS plans, which will encompass a summary of the current situation and community engagement. These plans are expected to pinpoint possible solutions, both infrastructural and non-infrastructural, to enable a greater number of children to commute to school safely by walking, biking, or rolling.
All communities, school districts, and organizations are welcome to submit their applications. Further details about the P&P grant program, including of the application process, archives of previous informational webinars, and a FAQ sheet, are available on the KSDOT Safe Routes website.
