By Payton Tholstrup

NCK CASA, a nonprofit that advocates for abused and neglected children in Cloud, Jewell, Lincoln, Mitchell, Washington, and Republic Counties, has announced that Sheena Halverstadt is joining the team as a new CASA supervisor and Forensic Interviewer.

Sheena has four years of experience working with CASA in Nebraska. Her previous roles included Program Coordinator, Volunteer Supervisor, Associate Director, and an Indian Child Welfare Act Specialist.

She is also a member of the Cherokee Nation. Her knowledge of the Indian Child Welfare Act and role as a qualified expert witness has been very helpful in advocating for active efforts for Native American/Alaska Native Children and their families.

She is excited to learn about NCK CASA’s programs while continuing to help speak up for children in need.

Sheena and her husband live in Carelton, Nebraska with their family and three dogs. They have five daughters ranging from 9 years old to 22. She also has three grandchildren. In her spare time, she shared that she loves to bake, sew, and craft.
