Clay County Commissioners Discuss Clay County Fair, County Technology Updates, More

On Tuesday, February 20th, the Clay County Commissioners met for their regular meeting.

Bobby Shomper, Highway Administrator, reported that the Department will begin working on tree projects again this week, weather permitting.

Alec Trembath, EMS Director, reported that the Department had performed 94 runs and out of town transfers in 2024 at the time of the meeting.

Craig Williams of Network’s Plus met with the Board to discuss placing Microsoft Office 365 on all County computers. The group also discussed email security. Williams stated that the Clay County Sheriff’s Department needs to be updated soon and the rest of the County should follow suit before the end of 2024. The Board unanimously approved the purchase of Microsoft Office 365 for the entire County with an allowance of up to $40,000 per year. The program will be paid for out of the County General Fund.

Mike Argo, Fair Board President, met with the Board to report on the 2024 Clay County Fair. Argo reported that Phil Vandel will be the free music entertainment on Friday night during the Fair. Argo reported that there will be some special events for this year’s fair, as it is in its 150th year of operation. There will be a parade at the Fair Grounds on Monday the week of the Fair. More information will be released at a later date.
