After over twenty-two years of working for the Clay County Highway Department, Robert Knitter has announced his retirement. His last day will be Thursday, February 29th.
Knitter has operated the road grater in Clay County during the entirety of his career with the highway department. He has also been working the same area since he started.
He noted that he is going to miss the people he works with the most, adding that they are like family to him. After his retirement, he plans to take a couple of trips. The first one will be to Alaska and the other one will be to New England.
The Clay County Highway Department will be having a farewell party for Knitter on Friday, March 1st, from 2:00 -p.m. – 4:00 p.m. at the Clay County Events Center. Everyone is welcome to attend to celebrate his retirement with him.
