Clay Center Community High School is preparing for next year’s Tiger House project.
The Tiger House program has been running for many years and gives students hands-on experience in the trades by building a house for the community.
CCCHS Principal Bud Young helps to coordinate the Tiger House. He said several classes and administrators at CCCHS work together to make each house a reality.
Young estimated that once a Tiger House is finished, roughly 45 students have assisted with the project in some way. Young said the skills participating students learn in the program are vital and versatile.
Young said public bidding on the Tiger House should open this coming May. The students will then begin planning the project in late August after safety training, begin building the house in early September, and plan to have it finished sometime in spring.
