The public is invited to the Clay County Event Center to learn about the American Red Cross’s Community Disaster Outreach Program on Tuesday, October 21st, at 6:30 p.m.
Jim Bogart, Clay County Emergency Manager, said Red Cross Disaster Program Managers Carol Arnold and Kyle Lewis will be there speaking to attendees about the Program and how one can volunteer to help the Red Cross in a disaster situation.
Bogart noted that Clay County currently has only two volunteers on the list for the area, and more are needed. The event aims to help build relationships with the Red Cross and bring more volunteers to the area to aid in Disaster Preparedness and Response.
The Red Cross will be bringing a Special Response Vehicle for attendees to see and learn about. Refreshments will also be provided.
The event is free and open to all, especially those who would be interested in volunteering. Volunteers are critical in providing comfort, access to food and necessities, and shelter during times of a local disaster.
