Obituary-Albert McCall

Albert M. McCall, age 89, entered into rest on Tuesday, December 27, 2022 at Marquis Place, Concordia, Kansas. He was born on Dec. 26, 1933 in Concordia, Kansas to Ralph and Frances Edith (Howell) McCall.

Albert was a 1953 graduate of Concordia High School, Concordia, Kansas. He married the love of his life, Kari Belle Norgard, on June 4, 1954, at the Scandia Lutheran Church in Scandia, Kansas. They were happily married for 68 years.  To this union three children were born, Greg, Randy, and Jeff.

Albert served in the United States Army during peacetime from 1956 – 1958. He also served in the active reserve for 4 years, he was honorably discharged.

He worked for Weeks Grocery Store in Salina, Kansas as the Produce Manager. He later was the owner operator of Al’s Hy-Klas Grocery Store in Scandia.

Albert was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, lifetime member of American Legion Post #76 both of Concordia.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing and was an avid bowler. He really enjoyed going to watch his grandchildren while they performed in their sporting activities. Al showed kindness and compassion to everyone he met, and always had a joke ready.

Albert is survived by his wife Kari of the home, 3 sons, Greg McCall (Cindy), Overland Park, KS; Randy McCall (Christine), Lawrence, KS; Jeff McCall (Stormy), Twin Falls, ID; 5 grandchildren, Zach McCall, Junu, McCall, Matthew McCall, Bethanie Cedaño-McCall (Joseph), Madison McCall; sister-in-law, Doris McCall, New Cambria, KS; several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Frances, 9 brothers, Robert, Roy, Raymond, Glenn, Edward, Dean, Clifford, Twin brothers, James and Joe McCall; 3 sisters, Edith Chaput, Hazel Laubach, Ruth Thoman.

Visitation will be held from 1-8 p.m with the family receiving friends from 6-7 pm on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home.

Celebration of Life service will be held 10:30 am, Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at the Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia, Kansas. Burial will follow in the Poplar Grove Cemetery, Scandia, KS. Military Honors will be conducted by Ft. Riley Military Personnel, Ft. Riley, KS and American Legion Post #76, Concordia, Kansas.
