Obituary-Donald Richardson

Donald Wayne Richardson was born on August 4, 1936, to Harley and Dorothy Richardson and passed from this earth on January 15, 2024, at the age of 87.  Don went to school in Hebron, Nebraska, and graduated from Hebron High School on May 25, 1955.  He attended Fairbury Junior College in Fairbury, Nebraska, and played football.  After that, he became a land surveyor.  Don was united in marriage to Faye Pepperkorn. From this union was born Denise (Morrison) and Steve.  He divorced and remarried.  Don was united in marriage to Donna Mae Hinrichs on March 26, 1967.  From this marriage was born a son, Greg. The couple moved to the Belleville, Kansas, area and became grocery store co-owners for the “Richardson’s Jack and Jill” in Belleville. After twenty-five years of serving the community, they retired from the grocery business.  Don then worked at MC Industries and helped local farmers.

Don was an outdoors man and enjoyed hunting and fishing.  He was also a volunteer fireman for Belleville Fire Department.  Don enjoyed pool shooting and playing golf with his wife, Donna.  One of his favorite hobbies was gardening.  His memories live on in the lives of many whom he employed by instilling the values of good work ethic.

Don is survived by wife of 56 years of marriage, Donna Richardson of Belleville, KS; children, Denise Morrison and husband Steve of Hoisington, KS; Steven Richardson of La Crosse, KS; and Greg Richardson and wife, Lisa of Chester, NE; grandchildren, Katelyn Richardson, Allison Richardson, Casey Morrison, Carla Schartz, Abby Jonas, and Stephanie Koochel; eight great grandchildren; siblings, Robert Richardson and wife Shirley of Brighton, CO, Carolyn Baldwin of Adel, IA, Janet Friend of Sioux City, IA, John Richardson and wife Sondra of Belleville, KS, and William “Clem” Richardson and wife Kay of North Platte, NE; sisters-in-law Marla Gerberding of Deshler, NE, Grace Richardson and Karen Richardson of Belleville, KS.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, Harley and Dorothy Richardson; Father and Mother-in-law George and Marie Hinrichs; brothers, Gene Richardson and Gary Richardson; brothers-in-law Russ Gerberding, Roger Baldwin, and Gary Friend.

Following Don’s wishes, he was cremated with no visitation.  Memorial services will take place at a later date.
